SEE/MAPLD CODE OF CONDUCT

The members of the SEE/MAPLD community commit ourselves to the highest standards of integrity, responsible behavior, and ethical and professional conduct.  We accept a personal obligation to our professions, other individuals involved in our fields of interest, and to the communities we serve, and recognize the importance of our technologies, models, simulations, and data.  As participants in the community and the SEE/MAPLD Symposium, we agree to be bound by the following rules:

    1. We will be respectful of others privacy and personal information and will act in a professional manner at all times.

    2. We will not engage in unprofessional, unethical or illegal harassment (including sexual harassment), or bullying, whether in person, via cyber technology, or otherwise. We will appreciate differences, foster equality, and promote collaboration and inclusiveness. We will abstain from and actively discourage discrimination in all forms.

    3. We will avoid unprofessional, unethical, or illegal activities that may injure others, their property, data, reputation, or employment by false or malicious action. We will maintain a professional environment characterized by good working relations and an atmosphere of tolerance and mutual respect.

    4. We will not engage in or participate in the spreading of any malicious rumors, defamation, or any other verbal or physical abuses whether on the Internet or otherwise that may be unethical, illegal, or unprofessional.

    5. We will not retaliate against any person who reports an act of misconduct, reports any violation of the SEE/MAPLD Code of Conduct, or makes SEE/MAPLD aware of the violation of any laws, rules, or regulations in connection with SEE/MAPLD activities.

    6. We will comply with all applicable laws as well as standards of ethical behavior, including but not limited to the following: rejecting bribery in all forms, avoiding real or perceived conflicts of interest whenever possible, and disclosing them to affected parties when they do exist, protecting confidential information, not engaging in acts that result in restraining trade, and not misusing or infringing the intellectual property of others.

    7. We will be honest and realistic in stating claims or estimates based on available data.

    8. We will seek to accept and offer honest criticism of technical work, to acknowledge and correct errors, and to properly credit the contributions of others.

    9. We will assist colleagues and co-workers in their professional development and to support them in following the SEE/MAPLD Code of Conduct.

(Note: The above Code of Conduct was derived from the IEEE Code of Ethics.)
